Why Certification Matters
We don’t take shortcuts. We believe that what touches our bodies matters - especially when it comes to period wear. These garments are worn against the most sensitive areas of our bodies, during the most vulnerable time of the month. That’s why ensuring our BU.M's are free from harmful chemicals, toxins, and irritants is not just important to us, it is essential.
Our fabrics meet the world’s leading certification standards to guarantee safety, sustainability and transparency at every step. But these aren’t just badges to us - they’re our promise. A promise that every fiber in our period wear undergoes rigorous testing at every stage of development to ensure they are completely free from toxins. Our BU.M's are monitored, tested, and certified to give you the purest, safest experience possible.
The Hidden Dangers in Non-Certified Fabrics: Many clothing items today contain harmful chemicals - from pesticides to toxic dyes, formaldehyde, and synthetic finishes that can be absorbed through the skin or even inhaled over time. These substances have been linked to: Skin Irritation & Allergies – Harsh chemicals can cause rashes, itching and discomfort, especially in delicate areas. Bacterial & Fungal Infections – Non-breathable, chemical-laden materials create the perfect environment for bacterial overgrowth, leading to infections like bacterial vaginosis, thrush, or even toxic shock syndrome. Hormonal Disruptions – Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) found in some fabrics can interfere with natural hormone balance. For decades, many of us also experienced these issues with tampons and disposable pads - now, we know better.
